Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the levels of leisure-time delinquency among travel agency employees and to examine whether these levels show significant differences according to various demographic variables. The study was designed using a quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional (survey) design. The population of the study consists of individuals working in Group A travel agencies operating in the province of Ankara. Data were collected from a total of 405 employees within the sample determined according to the Cochran (1977) formula. The findings show that the levels of leisure-time delinquency among travel agency employees are below average (X̄=3.08±1.61). The analyses revealed that levels of leisure delinquency did not differ significantly according to the variables of gender, age, marital status, educational status, department worked in, daily working hours, and weekly leisure time. As a result, all research hypotheses were rejected; it was found that leisure delinquency did not differ in terms of the demographic variables examined. The findings indicate that the leisure experiences of individuals working in the tourism sector may be shaped by sectoral and organizational dynamics rather than demographic characteristics. The study contributes to the literature by addressing the perceptions of tourism workers regarding leisure in terms of guilt and provides a scientific basis for practices aimed at employee well-being.
